What is better for your baby to get attached to a pacifier or their thumb?

How about neither? I have never given either of my kids a pacifier. Neither of them sucks their thumb. Both were/are fed and met all their sucking needs that way. My daughter weaned just after she turned 2 years old with no fuss. No bad habits to break.
